The sadness of finishing anime

I hate anime. It gives me so many happy moments, it makes my life better in so many ways. I watch certain series week after week, get invested in the story and characters. And then things just… End. And I’m left with a huge void in my heart. And yet I keep coming back for more. Only to experience this sadness again. I’m writing this just after finishing the last episode of Sword Art Online: Alicization Part 1 and, as you can probably tell, it has left me feeling quite sad. 6 months 6 months. The number of months that had passed since Alicization Part 1 had started, and the number of months that will take for Alicization to return. A lot of things have happened in these 6 months. Both in my world and the SAO world. But on Saturday there was always an episode of Alicization to watch. Continue reading…

What I watched in Winter 2019

Another season of anime is behind us! We are already one-quarter into 2019… Just as I did at the end of the Fall 2018 anime season – I’m gonna go through all the anime I’ve watched in Winter 2019, be it seasonal, non-seasonal, or a rewatch. Seasonal anime Boogiepop wa Warawanai I do enjoy watching Boogiepop but it’s really not an anime you would watch weekly. After watching the first 2 episodes that way, I already felt confused with the events and characters so I decided to restart my watching. Now I’m just at the start of the second half of the series and I’ll get to finishing the remaining episodes soon. It’s also not an anime I’d watch at any time other than late night. The music and the whole mood just fit that time so well. But I guess that’s expected from something with the Horror tag isn’t Continue reading…

Sword Art Online: Alicization updated its opening

It’s been almost two months since Sword Art Online: Alicization introduced us to a new opening song and sequence. Since then it has already been updated once, with even more polished visuals and a new Eugeo vs Bercouli scene. But since that scene was pretty much the only new scene of the opening, I didn’t felt the need to make a new post about the changes. This time, however there are a lot more new scenes. I will break down all the new scenes, while for the older ones you can go here. The new scenes We start off again with the epic Kirito and Eugeo synchronization. This time the background is red, reminiscent of the certain thing that appeared in front of Eugeo and Alice’s right eye… And this time its not just Kirito and Eugeo. Alice is now on their side. When she appears the red background turns Continue reading…

Sword Art Online: Alicization has a new opening

Last Saturday’s Sword Art Online: Alicization episode was the final one that had ADAMAS and Iris as its opening and ending sequences. ADAMAS truly did its job well, and I’m sad to see it go. But Sword Art Online has never failed to provide us with great openings and endings, and I’m far from disapointed with the new sequences we have. The new opening song, called Resister, is performed by ASCA, whose previous works include the Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo ending 2. With that said, it’s time for me to break down the visuals of the new opening sequence. The sequence We start off with our two main characters in a synchronization similar to the one from the first opening. The synchronization from the first opening had those glowing swords and for that reason I prefer it to the new version. We then focus on Kirito and his eye, Continue reading…

What I watched in Fall 2018

2018 is coming to an end, and with it the Fall 2018 season of anime. This post is a round-up of everything I watched since the start of October, from both seasonal and non-seasonal anime. Seasonal anime Akanesasu Shoujo This seemed like a decent anime due to the concept of travelling through different worlds. Another thing that seemed interesting was the main character meeting a version of herself from the alternate world. However, I watched the first two episodes and haven’t returned to it since. But there are positive comments on the direction the anime took, so I think I’ll look into it once again. Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara Irozuku intrigued me with its visuals and interesting premise. I can’t say it was dissspointing. The last few episodes have been heartbreaking and I can only imagine the feels the final episode will bring. This was really enjoyable and I’m Continue reading…

Top 10 Openings of 2018

As the year comes to an end, its time to make a few of those “best of x year” posts. My first one for this year will be about anime openings. Before I get started, I feel like there is one thing I should note: I actually don’t watch a lot of seasonal anime. It turns out that out of the 4 anime seasons in 2018, I only watched 21 seasonal anime (Fall 2018 included). The reason for this is that I only watch stuff that I feel I would like. I don’t think starting dozens of anime each season just because they are airing at that moment would work well for me. While this means I could miss out on a lot of amazing anime, I do make the decision to occasionally pick up shows later on in the season if they are talked about a lot, or if Continue reading…

SAO Alicization Episode 10 has me shocked

I don’t know why Sword Art Online keeps adding those close to be raped scenes. Each season had one so far. I guess it’s to increase the emotions, make us hate the antagonists and increase the rage of our protagonists… And in all those aspects it really does work but you just wonder… Aren’t there different ways to achieve that? But in any case, 3 seasons, 3 such scenes have happened. And this time we were even warned before the start that some explicit stuff will happen. Progress I guess. It’s weird picking which one of these scenes was the best in SAO so far but I’d say this one was the best. For the reasons surrounding it ofcourse. I say that because this was a huge moment for Eugeo. We saw his rage and we saw him get the system alert message on his eye again. He was left Continue reading…

Top 10 Characters Who Wear Glasses

Let me tell you a very fun fact about me: I wear glasses at home. And I love making top-list posts so I thought why not make a top list of characters who wear glasses? *adjusts glasses* let’s get into it! 10. Iida Tenya (Boku no Hero Academia) We start off with the president of class 1-A. He really fits the role of class president. Maybe even too much. His brother, pro hero Ingenium has inspired him to become a hero. He may seem intimidating at first, but he is actually a really good friend and is very kindhearted. 9. Shiroe (Log Horizon) The Elder Tale expert, the master strategist. Wants to achieve his goals at any cost, and for that reason many call him “the villain in glasses”. The glasses, which he really loves to adjust. Doing that gives him enhanced focus and confidence for a short period of Continue reading…

7 Openings and Endings that make you feel everything will be alright

Music is one of those things that will, for me personally, almost always work when I feel down. And when you add anime to it, the effect can grow even more. I’ve talked before about my love for anime openings, so in this post I will suggest you 7 Openings and Endings that will help you when things get rough. SAO II Ending 1 (Haruna – Startear) The first part of the second Sword Art Online season, the GGO arc, talks about Asada Shino, who wants to overcome her trauma of guns by playing the VR game Gun Gale Online. I won’t go into much spoilers, but she definitely had a tough childhood, which left her in the depressed state portrayed in this ending sequence. I want to be stronger; just a little stronger With that, I made a wish, In hopes of overcoming this sadness. The lyrics, combined with the beautiful visuals, including the scene when Sinon, Asada’s VR avatar hugs her, really feel helpful. The overall Continue reading…

The epic first Opening of SAO Alicization

The one thing about Sword Art Online that even the haters would agree on is that the Openings and Endings are always great in the show. In Season 3, things are no different. LiSA and Eir Aoi have provided us with memorable songs once again, and ones that are well worth adding to your playlist. While the music is awesome, the visual parts are far from lacking either. They feel as polished and clean as ever, with certain epic scenes that I’m sure will be replicated a lot by cosplayers. Breakdown of the opening The start of the sequence follows the young Kirito, Eugeo and Alice running on a field at dawn, with Alice tripping. This is a cute way to present the events of Episode 1, when Alice crosses a certain line by accident. What follows is a bit of worldbuilding and a closer look at the three main Continue reading…
